- When Forest last won a trophy the Channel Tunnel didn't exist. Construction of the 31.4 miles long tunnel started in 1988 and was completed in 1993.

- Brian Clough, who died in 2004, won nine major trophies with Forest, including the European Cup (twice). The 1989-90 League Cup was his last trophy.

- Three players from the League Cup winning team were later included in the England squad for the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. Des Walker played all England seven games in the World Cup. S. Pearce played in six. S. Hodge was in the squad, but never played.
